Award: Distinguished Service Order -- Shnoze Shmon

For exceptional service while assigned as Theater Commander for No.42's and WW Air Operations in the Cambrai theatre, Shnoze Shmon did distinguish himself by the following citation: Shnoze Shmon took leadership of air operations during No.42 and Wing Walkers Squadron’s tournament against JG1 and Black Haze, formally titled Flanders in Flames XVI: The Battle for Cambrai. Shnoze Shmon took on the daunting task of organizing the air operations of two squadron working together for the first time. This included coordinating with JG1 to ensure fair play for all involved.

Shnoze Shmon also led the Squadron by planning each mission, assigning flight goals, assigning flight membership and producing detailed route maps. This task also included snap in air decisions made to complete the mission requirements, as no plan survives contact with the enemy. Shnoze Shmon's unique leadership, tireless off hours work, and schemes provided the environment for No.42 Squadron, Wing Walkers and their pilots to repeatedly complete their missions in a timely manner. This critically wins three out of the first four engagements with the enemy by a resounding margin.

Shnoze Shmon's unrelenting loyalty serves to inspire the members of No.42 Squadron. His devotion to duty is in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflects credit upon himself, his unit, and the Royal Flying Corps. As the Commanding Officer of the No.42_Squadron, I commend you for your efforts and in recognition from a sincerely grateful command staff and the pilots of the No.42_Squadron award you the Distinguished Service Order.

Yes, a major tireless effort and a job well done! I would add, I never saw or heard him get rattled or upset! Regardless of if we were winning or losing, Mick or other passerby's, lost pilots, ripping his own wings off or losing a flight lead.

He walked the walk and talked the talk. It seemed as if he was always on the server.

When JG1 complimented him directly and asked to work with him again in the future because they....liked his ideas, his work-together approach and that he was easy to get along with. I knew we had to award him something and I was glad when it crossed HQ's desks.

That said, depending on how you read the above...he could also be SHOT as a traitor. Cool

Awards also provide extra stipend and I doubt his will be 'squirreled away'. I know he's been spending time at 'The Broken Prop' and also did a night in the 'squirrel cage' blasted out of his gourd on an expensive Pecan, acorn & peanut cluster. I have pics!

These were my first official missions with 42 and I was very impressed with the organization, planning, detail, and the briefings provided. Excellent work... doesn't mean I am going to give up squirrel hunting though!

I have to say I enjoyed good efforts put in by this team. Every time I had a crazy idea people were jumping into the effort to see if it would work. When I asked for specific preparation effort there was a resounding response. I had the leadership and talent available to essentially fire and forget mission objectives. I just wish I knew more personally about all the efforts made.

Well... I was a bit upset with myself for stupidity. But it brought a realization that I was wasting resources and losing pilots over something not worth the effort.
