| For meritorious service while assigned to Blue Flight in RFC No.42 Squadron, Skeetr did support squad operations by the following citation:
While in combat operations against the enemy in the defense of Britain, Flanders in Flames XVIII, Skeetr's skill and unswerving devotion to duty were demonstrated repeatedly as he came to the aid of his flight and escorted ground assault aircraft countless times, forcing the enemy to break off their attack. Skeetr's knowledge of positioning himself assisted his other natural abilities by getting him to the enemy at just the right time to thwart an attack on friendly aircraft. Skeetr's first thought was always with the others around him, so once the threat was removed, he returned to those who counted on him rather than pursue the enemy to the ground. In this fashion, Skeetr assisted in destroying numerous enemy aircraft in the service of England.His performance of duty reflects great credit upon himself, No.42 Squadron and the British Empire.
As the Commanding Officer of the No.42_Squadron, I commend you for your efforts and in recognition from a sincerely grateful command staff and the pilots of the No.42_Squadron award you the Distinguished Flying Cross. | |
