While in combat operations against the enemy, Zed performed to a high degree of excellence in the task of destroying enemy artillery emplacements. This mission was in support of the allied assault against the enemy in the Arras region. Zed used his outstanding flying skill in the elimination of these emplacements. Working in concert with other Green Flight members Zed destroyed multiple emplacements which led to Entente Armor being able to make it to the enemy's trenches and dislodging them from their fortified positions and forced them to retreat. His performance of duty reflects great credit upon himself, No.42 Squadron and the British Empire.

As the Commanding Officer of No.42_Squadron, I commend you for your efforts and in recognition from a sincerely grateful command staff and the pilots of the No.42_Squadron, award you the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
