| Judging from past experience JG1 seems to be doing a zone defense and no less than 4 planes in on escort. Every engagement started with us vs 2 of them and with in a couple minutes there were 1-2 more in the fight.
I would say if your planning on intercepting their 2 seaters and dealing with escorts you will need a minimum of 4 planes or the ability to vector help to your location in a timely manner. I like the scouting idea and I would say that's a perfect job for a single SPAD or a pair at most.
If they are focusing on the trains and convoys maybe we should spend the first hour heavy on defense. Zed and Stub can sortie our in 2 seaters and take out as many targets as possible then at the top of the 2nd hour we can send the rest of the 2 seaters to mop up targets.
Since they seem to prefer using fighter to take out the trains and trucks if we manage to intercept their JABO flight (and destroy them), it will cut down the number of planes they have to defend in the 2nd hour.

| Yeah I like the idea of sending a lone spad out there just to scout and relay information, plus playing heavy defense in the beginning.
Is it legal in this tournament to use the real time info on the map? It might be smart to leave one scout pilot on the ground and watch the map for the first 15 minutes or so and see if a big flight of albs is crossing the lines.

| Comms are encouraged, real-time "AWACS" style balloon intel is considered bad form in this match. | |

If that is so why are there balloons, just for the pretty lights?

| I like the idea of beefing up the defense early... perhaps nock a few of them out for the night early and then have our way with them | |

Now correct me if I am wrong, but there is really no purpose in going after anything except the convoy and train. Those are the only conditions that carry over to the last match, which is what decides the tourney. We can go for bragging rights, but in my mind our focus must be on eliminating their convoy and train. Everything after that is for funsies and bragging. Map coming soon.

Map coming soon. That's a damn good question and if i was to guess, since you can kill both of those with MGs and JG1 doesn't seem to have many 2 seat drivers that would make perfect sense.

| So maybe we focus 100% on defense for the first half of the mission, try to get them in a disadvantageous dog fight on our sight of the lines early, knock a bunch of their scout pilots out and then take it to them in the second half. Let's do it. | |

| If we do this, we are going to want to have all back seats filled when we do the over-the-lines thing at the end.
Also if there is anyone that absolutely cannot fly fighters, it might be worthwhile to send them on solo missions off the line. I know in il-2 I am nothing but a handicap and easy points if I take a fighter slot. Of course for everyone that takes this option, the less we have to pack the backfield.

| Obviously we need to leave enough time for the two seaters to do what they need to do in the second half but that idea of setting up a defensive stance is interesting. We could have a flight of pups down low and a flight of spads up top covering the pups and cover the main targets on our side. | |

| Sounds good to me.
Yes, the more trains and convoys we destroy in these missions, the fewer artillery guns we go against in the final mission. That makes them a high priority target. The rest go for individual mission points (we got 4 last mission, they got 3).
And also yes: they don't send DFW's after the train and convoys...it's all Albies.
