| Early War with the new planes coming...., Channel Map would be great...I would vote for "The Early Battle of Ypres 1914"...the front is even flooded in the map. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Just to get your juices flowing....if the ships work and we actually start flying it, worth the price. Dunkirk [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Stubbies nipples are getting hard looking at these ground targets.... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The Boggy Ruins of Nieuport [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]If Nieuport was bad, Ypres is worse, almost haunting..... | That is not one of the match-ups that Butzell and I have worked on, but always one of my favorites! Might actually have to get ahold of the channel map. | |

| Oh yeah! When the early planes come out I think we should definitely do this! | |

| updated my post to show some Channel Map images
.....for the mission builders the entire map is a beast....have to breakdown the object sets into small groups to be usable. Fine for flying but extremely slow in the mission builder software. The Old Fokkers started creating object group files of a small size. If Butz starts playing with this, I can get some help from Sitting Duck to get those groups.

| S! All Be careful what you wish for Have done some stock missions for the Chanel map. Will redo some things like river barges. They can become targets of opportunity and the icons can be removed. The thing to think about is the static target. Two as we have done in the past or just one if ships become a target of opportunity? The problem with the Chanel map is depth. We have been using a 40 km depth from the front line. Unfortunately the German side is about 30 km deep. So the map is a little skinnier. With slow earlies, this is probably ok. The Finali is a special mission as always. Originally designed for Seaplanes and Heavy bombers, it can be modded for earlies. It can also be run forwards and backwards. We could do a Prelude battle which is the Finali run forward and then do the Finali at the end and run it backward. Forward and backward mean that the teams swap mission objectives and goals. Sample map based on what we have already done. The rear German line is the far right edge of the map, not the white line. There are four air bases. This is wishful thinking that we may add more players. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Would you slide it a bit north so you keep Ypres, but catch Nieuport and the mouth of the River into the Channel? Opens the door for a sea attack....
Lots of possibilities, but if the goal was to have the finali be a historical battle, probably requires more research
If I forgot history for a second lots of interesting scenarios....
1. Crossing the channel in the dark, for a dawn bombing at Dunkirk
2. Escort of ships to the shore at Nieuport for firing on the front and assist in the taking of Nieuport
3. Series of temporary bridges being built in the flooded front for an enemy advance that require defense or destruction
4. Air support for evacuation of Ypres, trucks and vehicles mixed in with military vehicles

| S!
Yes the map can move up a bit and take in more of the shoreline. It mans the Germans have more area to defend is all.
And you guessed it. The Prelude/ Finali was either troops landing or being evacuated. While everyone looks at the Channel map and thinks Battle of Britain, the evacuation of Dunkirque offered great possibilities for land and sea. Run the evacuation backward as a landing and it serves double duty. Wanted to use seaplanes to bomb moving ships and heavy bombers on static ships and land targets.
Oh well, now that you have guessed it, will have to do something different.
