| It rarely happens that MFT becomes corrupted. NTFS stores a copy of MFT that is called MFT mirror. If problem occurs, NTFS tries to synchronize these copies. You can try to run Check Disk utility from Windows environment. Or if Windows is not bootable, boot from floppies or bootable CD-ROM to Recovery Console and run CHKDSK utility that could help you. If the damage to MFT is serious, standard utilities might help you and you'll see "Drive cannot be accessed" message when trying to access the drive in Windows Explorer. In this case use a third party software, like Active@ UNERASER for DOS or Active@ File Recovery for Windows to access and save your files to another drive, and then reformat the partition. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Or Try TestDisk it's free. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]TestDisk can Fix partition table, recover deleted partition Recover FAT32 boot sector from its backup Rebuild FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 boot sector Fix FAT tables Rebuild NTFS boot sector Recover NTFS boot sector from its backup Fix MFT using MFT mirror Locate ext2/ext3/ext4 Backup SuperBlock Undelete files from FAT, exFAT, NTFS and ext2 filesystem Copy files from deleted FAT, exFAT, NTFS and ext2/ext3/ext4 partitions. | |

| ~S~ Space ! lol ... grrrrr . click thud !
thank you CJ ...
testdisk had me lost when i looked at that one...dummy me couldnt figure out what I was looking at....tried that one last night before your reply...
am looking at active uneraser now.... it sees the game folders...but says there is nothing there..condition very bad . nothing to copy over to a different drive :( the only good thing is that it is only two games and nothing important !
now here is the strange thing.. it said nothing to recover ... so i started over , trying to look at the drive contents... box popped up saying need to format to use the drive so i said ok and ran the quick format...
then started uneraser again , now it sees files again .... copying the game folder over to a different drive ....hmmm
so far looks like its doing something....lol

| :) should be back up to par again .... ROF and IL2 4.12.1 salvaged from faulty drive. IL2 4.10 also salvaged and upgraded to HSFX 6.0.1 still testing and tweaking but all seems cooperative and working properly. thanks Cobraj for the program names .....Active@file recovery did the trick | |
