There is a series of books called "History in One Hour". I got the WWI on audiobook for $2 and found it well worth it as a good overview of the War. Was just over an hour. Can be gotten from Amazon as a Kindle or audiobook:

FYI, that link has been there since almost Day 1 of the No.42_Squadron
