| Name (handle): SilverHawk
A short bio (history of flight sim/s): I was one of the original members of the 334th Squadron. I stop playing back in 2005 due to moving, growing a family, and lost of interest. I consider myself a newbie since I have not played in such a long time. I own two flight sticks, a Thrustmaster and a Saitek X52 which I will need help programming in order to fly effectively.
Are you more than 24 years old: Yes, I'm 40.
Previous squad membership if any: I used to be a member of the 334th Eagle Squadron a long time ago.
Do you know anyone in the No.42_Squadron: No, I do not know any members.
Do you know anyone in another Squadron or Jasta: Yes, 334th_Seahawk
Your perceived level of abilities: Newbie. I haven't flown since 2005.
What is your Rise of Flight Forum name: SilverHawk
Why do want to join No.42_Squadron: I've always been fascinated with WWI airplanes and I find it fun flying them.
Your Time Zone: Eastern Time Zone (Florida)
Time in Rise of Flight: Not sure what this means...
Do you have Teamspeak3 and is it working? Do not have Teamspeak3 but I can download it and also do not have the IL-2 game yet. I'm counting on one of the members letting me know which game to buy and which patch (if any) I need. I will also need help setting up the joystick commands.
Do you have a working microphone? Not at this time but that's not a problem, I can buy one. Any suggestions on which headset to buy? I've been looking at the HyperX Cloud headset, I've heard good things about it online.
No.42 conducts all operations in N. American timezones and in English. Will this be a problem for you"? Not at all, I speak English just fine.

| Welcome SilverHawk.
With the holidays upon us there is no real flying schedule right now so you'll just need to catch someone in the game or on TS. After the new year begins we should get back to the Monday, Wednesday and Saturday schedule. Teamspeak is really a must but I can't help with headset suggestions, I don't use one. There are guys that use the sticks you have so I'm sure someone will offer suggestions for configuration.
By the way, do you have a mirror in the cockpit and instinctively chase every shiny object you see in the sky (fighter pilot) or do you accomplish mission objectives and win the battles for little recognition and even fewer game points? (bomber pilot)
Hope to see you around soon

| Welcome back to WWI and the No.42 Aerodrome SilverHawk!
Getting your game and peripherals set up is much easier to do on Teamspeak, so I would advise you to get that set up with a mic then someone will be able to work with you. I use the logitech G430, but headsets are a very personal choice.
I would also advise that you fly with us a few times to see if you like us, we are a fun bunch, but we might be an acquired taste for some!
I look forward to meeting you on comms.

| Welcome to the club SilverHawk! Looking forward to meeting you, we have plenty of guys here that are more than capable enough to help you get set up but step 1 is TS... see you there.

| Welcome to the 42nd Squadron Silverhawk. I am Zed, your orientation officer who will help you through all of the trials and trepidations of flying the dangerous skies of WW1. As Rooster has said, setting up TeamSpeak is a primary as we can then talk you through the other parts. I use the X52 Saitek and absolutely love it for ROF. I can help you set it up and numerous buttons. If you are a fighter type jock we will leave out the button that drops a bomb on a certain someones hut, but I promise you fun and good comradeship with this squad....
I have sent you a PM with my email address on it so we can start configuring the TS in order to get an orientation session going.
And now back to your regularly scheduled program...

| He's having some trouble with TS. I tried all my tricks but no go. He can hear but can't speak, so mic issues.
I've made him "Friend of 42" on our TS server for now.
